Abstract:Objective In order to improve the level of performance management for large medical equipment used in public hospitals,
a performance evaluation system from 5 dimensions including social benefits, discipline development, clinical effects, technical status
and economic benefits is to be constructed. Methods This essay built such an evaluation model based on the multilevel extenics.
The model determined the weight of evaluation indexes at all levels with interval analytic hierarchy process, and closely integrated
with the operation practice of public hospitals. Results The model was applied to evaluate the performance of full-femtosecond laser
corneal surgery instrument in some hospital as an example, the performance evaluation level is 1/good, which was consistent with the
fact that the equipment enhanced the discipline technical standards, improved the patients’ experience, and created economic benefits
for the hospital. Conclusion The evaluation system based on extenics can be consistent with the actual use of equipment, provide
corresponding reference for hospitals at all levels to strengthen equipment use management, and provide effective data support for
