Abstract:Objective To determine the reasonable range of quality control results which can provide a basis for quality control by
measuring and analyzing the results of dose verification of two intensive-modulated transmission methods of HDA type tomotherapy
equipment. Methods According to the requirements of AAPM TG119, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plans were made
for the cases provided from the aspects of transmission mode, size of lead door, and mode of motion. A total of 95 IMRT plans were
made, and 100 point doses and 45 area doses were measured respectively. The actual measurement results were analyzed, and the
confidence intervals of different intensive-modulated transmission methods were calculated. Results The confidence interval of point
dose in target area of Tomo-Helical transmission mode was ±2.43%, the Tomo-Helical confidence interval of point dose verification
for organs at risk was ±1.46%, and that for Tomo-Direct transmission mode was ±2.72%, and that for Tomo-Direct transmission
mode was ±2.66%. The results for area dose verification were: the passing rate of Tomo-Helical mode were ≥97.9%, and that for
Tomo-Direct mode was ≥96.9%. Conclusion In this study, the newly installed HDA type tomotherapy equipment we tested and the
confidence intervals of the measured parameters were within the recommended range of the report. It provides a basis for the quality
control of new helical tomotherapy intensity-modulated technology and the future IMRT plans.
