Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effect of the intelligent house for consumables management system based on radio
frequency identification (RFID) technology in operating room. Methods Using ultra high frequency RFID technology, the original
warehouse of the operating room was reformed as a whole and shielded, and the intelligent house with consumable management
system for operating room based on RFID was built. Four modules including basic information maintenance, use registration,
inventory management and query were established to complete the whole process management and traceability management of
high-value consumables. The incidence of adverse events in consumables management, the average daily management time of
consumables, the average daily usage time and number of usages of consumables, and the return rate of unused consumables were
compared before and after the system was wsed. Results The incidence of adverse events in consumables management after using the
system was 2.9%, which was significantly lower than that of 8.8% before using the system (χ2=31.601, P<0.001). The average daily
management time of consumables after using the system was (66.56 ± 10.37) min, which was lower than that of (110.18 ± 16.89) min before
using the system (t=69.598, P<0.001). The average daily usage time and number of usages of consumables after using the system
were significantly lower than before (t=109.051, 39.659; both P<0.001). The return rate of unused consumables was increased
from 95.2% before using the system to 100% after using the system. Conclusion The intelligent house with consumable
management system in operating room has a remarkable application effect in the management of high-value consumables. It can
reduce the occurrence of adverse events, simplify the management and the collection of high-value consumables, and is
worth promoting and applying.
