Abstract:This paper illustrated the design and application process of a medical instrument lead wire
storage box, which consists of a cube box, U-shaped groove, box door, snap hooks, handles and other
structures. It could quickly lead to many groups of fixed lines classified in the storage box so as to
solve the problem of lead wires twisted, folded and wrapped with damage because of multiple sets of
unattended medical equipment. Altogether 400 patients who were treated in Department of Emergency
in the hospital in January 2014 were selected and divided into Fixation Group and Storage Box Group
evenly. The lead wires of ECG monitors in Fixation Group were fixed with self-made fixation band;
while, the lead wires of ECG monitors in Storage Box Group were fixed with the storage box designed
in this paper. According to the statistical comparison results, Storage Box Group showed shorter lead
wire placement time and lower lead wire replacement rate as well as superiorities in instrument complete
and clean condition assessment and medical staff’s satisfaction degree, with statistically significant
difference (P<0.05). The device designed in this paper was featured with great practicability and
convenience, which attained the design objects and deserved wider promotion.
