Development and Application of MRI Quality Control System for Scientific Research

Abstract:Objective To develop magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) quality control system for brain science research and explore
its application value in daily quality control management. Methods Water mode quality control data were collected 50 times for
Siemens Verio MRI from September 2020 to March 2022. B0 field inhomogeneity, signal to noise ratio, image uniformity, ghost ratio,
geometric distortion, fractional anisotropy, fluctuation and drift percentage of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), fMRI
signal fluctuation to noise ratio and fMRI spectral analysis were calculated. Results The data could be automatically presented in the
form of charts by software calculation, and all parameters fluctuated within a reasonable range with relatively stable values during
the quality control period, except for two obvious abnormal fluctuations on September 10, 2021 (gradient coil damage) and January
14, 2022 (32-channel coil damage). Through long-term quality control of equipment, the baseline was set. Once any abnormality was
found, the timely analysis and repair treatment, and the differences before and after equipment maintenance was compared to ensure
that the equipment was in a normal and stable state. Conclusion The quality control system can intuitively and effectively control the
daily quality of MRI equipment, find faults in time, lock the direction, ensure the normal operation of MRI equipment, and provide
guarantee for the quality of diffusion tensor imaging and fMRI experimental data.
