Abstract:Objective To explore the optimization effect of PDCA continuous improvement in positron emission tomography/
computed tomography (PET/CT) workflow of nuclear medicine discipline in order to improve work efficiency under the premise
of ensuring work quality. Methods The fishbone diagram method was used to analyze and summarize the shortcomings in the
routine management of PET/CT examinations. Based on the “Pareto principle”, the PET/CT examination process was proposed and
optimized. By using information management, improving personalized diagnosis and treatment plans, dynamically adjusting the
injection frequency of collaborative processes, and strengthening humanistic care, the optimization effects of the patient circulation
volume and waiting time in the nuclear medicine department before and after the implementation of PDCA continuous improvement
were compared. Results After the implementation of PDCA continuous improvement, the workload was significantly increased,
patient’s waiting time was shortened, the circulation volume was increased, and the work efficiency was improved under the
collaborative of clinicians, technicians and nurses. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The workflow
of PET/CT based on PDCA continuous improvement can improve the management of the diagnosis and treatment process of patients
in nuclear medicine department and improve the overall work efficiency.
