Methods MRI features and clinical data of 16 PSIS patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results On the MR imaging, the pituitary stalks were absent in 13 cases, pituitary stalks were obviously thinner in 3 cases. The high signal intensity of normal posterior pituitary in the back of the pituitary fossa were disappeared in 11 cases, but nodules with high signal intensity were found in the infundibular recess bottom or the median eminence of the third ventricle. Anterior pituitary were obviously thinner in all cases. Conclusion PSIS patients have certain MRI features, which are helpful in improving the accuracy of the preoperative diagnosis.
