Abstract:With the development of functional MRI (fMRI), it has been widely applied in neurosurgery to improve the surgical
outcomes. This article reviewed the usage of task-based fMRI, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI) in
neurosurgery. At present, task-based fMRI and DTI tractography has been used in the preoperative planning of the surgical corridor,
quantifying the spatial relationship between lesion and functional brain areas, and evaluating surgical risks. Research about rs-fMRI
elucidates its potential in the location of neurological function areas, neurocognitive areas and epileptogenic focus. FMRI will play
more important role in improving the neurosurgical outcomes in the future.
