Abstract:Objective To summarize the characteristics of headache patients and to evaluate the application value of neuroimaging
techniques (such as CT and MRI) in epidemiological study according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders
version 2. Methods A total of 5482 patients with headache from the outpatient department of neurology at tiantan hospital were
reviewed. Their clinical characteristics were analyzed. Results In this group of patients, 97.9% underwent head CT scan, 1.3%
underwent CTA scan, 81.1% underwent MRI scan of head, primary headache accounted for 71.2%, and secondary headache
accounted for 19.5%. The number of patients caused by non-vascular intracranial lesions and caused by infection was the top two
among patients with secondary headache. Conclusion In the epidemiological study of neurology headache patients, the importance
of neuroimaging techniques such as CT and MRI should be fully emphasized in order to improve the accuracy of the study.
