Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of changing the size of scanning matrix for head multivoxel hydrogen proton
magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) imaging in patients with brain tumor. Methods Twenty patients with brain tumors were
scanned with Siemens Skyra 3.0 T MR scanner. The head and neck joint coils of 20 channels were used with 16×16, 8×8 scanning
matrix for hydrogen proton MRS respectively. Two senior diagnostic physicians separately evaluated the spectral quality discrimination
indexes such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), full width at half maximum and concentration of major metabolites before and after the
modification of scanning matrix丨 the results were statistically analyzed. Results Under the condition that the analytical matrix is
unchanged and the scanning matrix was reduced by half, the concentration of main metabolites remains unchanged, the SNR of the
16×16 scanning matrix was 4.7±2.812, while the SNR of the 8×8 scanning matrix was 9.15±6.277. The SNR become better, and
the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The reduction of scanning matrix during multivoxel hydrogen proton
MRS scanning can ensure the quality of spectral images and shorten the scanning time, which has certain clinical application value.
