Abstract:Objective To introduce and compare the discrepancy in the measurement conditions and calculation of absorbed dose
calibration of linac high-energy photon and electron beams between report No.277 (TRS277) and No.398 (TRS398) published by the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). And to practice the dose calibration of high-energy photon and electron beams base
on the absorbed dose calibration factor of water. Methods According to the TRS277 and the TRS398 protocol, the absorbed dose of 6 MV,
10 MV, 15 MV photon beams and 6 MeV, 9 MeV, 12 MeV, 15 MeV, 18 MeV, 20 MeV electron beams produced by the ELEKTA
Precise linac was measured with the help of water tank, dosimeter and ionization chamber, respectively. Results For 6 MV, 10 MV,
15 MV photon beams, the relative deviation was -0.49%, -1.13%, -0.82%, respectively. For 6 MeV and 9 MeV electron beams, the
relative deviation was -2.25%, -1.53%, respectively. For 12 MeV, 15 MeV, 18 MeV and 20 MeV, the discrepancy vary from -0.82%
to -0.99%. Conclusion Comparing to TRS277, TRS398 needs fewer parameters, and closer to the actual condition of site measuring.
Except for 6 MeV and 9 MeV electron beams, the deviation measured by TRS277 and TRS398 is about within 1%.
