Application of ArcCHECK Combined with 3DVH in Dose Verification of
Whole Brain Radiotherapy

Abstract:Objective By using ArcCHECK combined with 3DVH, to explore the dose verification results and actual dose distribution
of patients undergoing whole brain radiotherapy. Methods The whole brain radiation treatment plan of 14 patients with brain
metastases (all using two-field radiation) was selected for this research. Each treatment plan was transplanted to the ArcCHECK
model to make a dose verification plan, and then the Varian Clinac iX linac was used to execute the ArcCHECK dose verification
plan, and statistical analysis on the Gamma passing rate of the verification plan was performed. Then the treatment plan, the dose
verification plan and the actual measured phantom dose distribution data were imported into the 3DVH software. After calculation
by 3DVH, the difference between the theoretical calculation and the actual measurement of the target area and the organs at risk were
compared, and the data were statistically analyzed. Results Using the 2 mm/3% evaluation standard, the gamma pass rate of the
ArcCHECK dose verification plan for 14 patients was (98.64±0.40)%, and the rate of 13 patients was greater than 98%. Comparing
the theoretically calculated and actually measured dose distributions, all the absolute values of the difference in the parameters of
Dmean and D95% of the target PTV were all less than 3%丨 in terms of organs at risk, the values of difference in the maximum dose of
the left and right lens were (2.69±4.28)% and (0.31±6.21)%, respectively丨 and the values of difference of the average dose of left
and right lens were (3.66±3.64)% and (1.79±1.61)%, respectively. Conclusion In this study, the dose verification results of the
14 whole brain radiotherapy patients were generally good, and the actual dose distribution was slightly different from the theoretical
calculation. ArcCHECK combined with 3DVH is a convenient, fast and informative dose verification tool that can provide phantom
verification results and actual dose distribution information for the patient.
