Abstract:Objective To compare the image quality of oblique sagittal position MAVRIC-SL IR sequence with oblique sagittal
position FSE T2WI fat suppression sequence and PDWI sequence, and to explore the possibility of auxiliary diagnosis of MAVRICSL
IR sequence. Methods Twenty-seven patients with metal fixtures in anterior cruciateligament (ACL) were recruited. The FSE
sequences (T2WI FS and PDWI) and the MAVRIC-SL IR were performed at MRI and scan time was recorded. The area of interest
(ROI) was delineated by selecting the largest artifact layer, and the artifact area of the implant was recorded. The number of affected
layers of artifact was recorded丨 The ROI was delineated and the SNR was calculated. Four experienced radiologists rated the degree
of image artifacts, measurability, and the degree of artifacts within the scan area except for the implant. Friedman M test and pairwise
comparison were used to compare and analyze the quantitative data and subjective scores. The intraclass correlation coefficient
(ICC) was used to evaluate the score consistency. Results There was significant difference in the area of artifact between MAVRICSL,
T2WI FS and PDWI (P<0.01). There was significant difference in the number of artifact layers of MAVRIC-SL, T2WI FS and
PDWI (P<0.01). There was a significant difference in SNR of MAVRIC-SL, T2WI FS and PDWI (P<0.05). In the aspect of image
scoring, MAVRIC-SL had smaller metal artifacts, higher measurability of adjacent structures and better observation of structures
affected by other metal artifacts in the imaging range. The scoring consistency was good (ICC≥0.75), and the difference was
statistically significant (P<0.05). In terms of imaging time, the acquisition time of MAVRIC-SL was longer than that of T2WI FS and
PDWI. Conclusion The MAVRIC-SL IR sequence significantly reduced the metal artifacts and provided more information in the
postoperative MRI review of the patients with metal-fixed ACLR.
