Objective To explore the application value of intelligent localization technology of CT for coronavirus disease 2019
(COVID-19). Methods A total of 166 patients for chest CT scan in our hospital from February 17 to 29, 2020 were enrolled, who
were randomly divided into test A group and control B group. Patients in A group were scaned by intelligent positioning technology,
while patients in B group were scaned by manual positioning method. The images of the two groups were compared in terms of
initial shift, forward-backward shift, left-right shift, image lung parenchyma and aortic SNR, CNR, subjective score, radiation
dose index, time and frequency of doctor-patient contacting, and technician scanning experience. Results There were statistically
significant differences in the initial shift, forward to backward shift, and left to right shift between the two groups (P<0.05). There
were no statistically significant differences in SNR, CNR, image subjective score and radiation dose of lung parenchyma and tracheal
bifurcation plane descending aorta (P>0.05). There was no contact between doctors and patients in A group, and about 60 seconds per
patient in B group. Technicians who used intelligent positioning technology thought that the operation was simple and quick, which
was more conducive to self-protection and reduced crossover risk of infection. Conclusion During the epidemic of COVID-19, using
intelligent localization technology during CT examination for patients, who can move freely, can reduce the risk of cross-infection.
This method does not reduce image quality and efficiency, which is worthy of widespread application.
