Development and Application of a Portable Fiber Raman Gastric Cancer Detector

Abstract:Objective To design a portable fiber Raman gastric cancer detector, and investigate its feasibility in the detection
of gastric cancer. Methods The main components of the portable fiber Raman gastric cancer detector include a 785 nm
semiconductor laser, a fiber optic probe, and a miniature spectrometer. The Raman spectra of normal gastric mucosa tissues
and gastric cancer tissues were detected by the portable fiber Raman gastric cancer detector, and were compared with the
spectral data obtained by confocal microraman spectrometer. Results The complete spectrum of normal gastric mucosa tissues
and gastric cancer tissues could be collected by the portable fiber Raman gastric cancer detector, which had no significant difference
from the spectrum obtained by confocal microraman spectrometer. Conclusion This detector could completely present the Raman
spectrum of different gastric mucosa tissues, and could be used for the identification of gastric cancer, providing a theoretical
basis for the development of Raman spectroscopic gastroscopy.
