Abstract:Objective To evaluate diagnostic value of magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)
in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods From June 1, 2016 to March 1, 2017, 30 consecutive patients from Department of
Digestive who were suspected with IBD were enrolled in our study retrospectively. The patients had endoscopy or surgery outcome.
Among them, 17 patients had Crohn’s disease (CD), 5 patients had ulcerative colitis (UC), and the rest 8 patients were normal. Then
we evaluate diagnostic value of MRE DWI in IBD. Results The 17 patients with CD had thickened intestinal wall and abnormal
enhancement on T1WI+C, and hyperintense on DWI. Four of five patients with UC had abnormal enhancement intestinal wall.
Three patients had hyperintense on DWI. The rest normal 8 patients had no abnormality on MRE. The sensibility, specificity, Youden
index of T1WI+C were 95.45%, 100% and 0.95; the sensibility, specificity, Youden index of DWI were 90.90%, 100% and 0.95.
Conclusion On aspect of display, DWI was well in consistent with T1WI+C, the Kappa value was 0.78. However, the T1WI+C
could demonstrate thickened intestinal wall and abnormal enhancement, comb sign, enlargement of lymph nodes, the DWI just
showed abnormal hyperintense of thickened intestinal wall, lymph nodes. The DWI had great consistence with T1WI+C on display
of IBD.
