Abstract:Objective To evaluate the ultrasonic imaging in the early diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma with liver cirrhosis.
Methods We selected 229 patients with liver cirrhosis combined with 267 suspected hepatocellular carcinoma lesions who
underwent ultrasound contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and needle biopsy in our hospital from October 2012 to December 2016.
The pathology reports and contrast enhancement were recorded. Results The sensitivity of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for
liver cirrhosis with small hepatocellular carcinoma was 91.01% (243/267). The differentiation of small hepatocellular carcinoma
and types of tissue were identified by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography. Besides, the began to contrast-enhanced time and washout
time was much longer in high differentiation cancer group than that of moderate and low differentiation cancer group (P<0.05).
Conclusion Contrast-enhanced ultrasound significantly increases the sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing different types of small
hepatocellular carcinoma in liver cirrhosis patients. The different degree of ultrasound contrast performance can assist diagnosis of
liver cancer pathological type.
