Abstract:ObjectiveTo test the working performance and hemocompatibility of a small implantable magnetic suspending ventricular assist device. Methods The hydraulic pump performance has been tested through in vitro mock circulation loop experiments. The in vitro tests referring to ASTM F1841 standard were made to test the in vitro hemolytic performance.ResultsIt turned out that the pump can deliver 5 L/min for pressures of 100 mmHg at a rotational speed of approximately 3500 rpm. The average normalized index of hemolysis values of the device was (0.0007±0.0003) mg/dL.ConclusionThe in vitro hydraulics test indicated that the device works with stable performance and can meet the requirements of adult ventricular assist, meanwhile, it has good hemolytic performance.
