Abstract:Photoplethysmography (PPG) contains some important human physiological information. In
order to easily and accurately obtain the PPG of the body, the video of the finger was obtained by using
the cell phone camera. And the number of each frame image pixel gray values greater than a certain
threshold could reflect the blood volume variation, and the timing curve of PPG was obtained. Then, with
the empirical mode decomposition method, the timing curve was broken down into a series of intrinsic
mode function (IMF). Finally, through the frequency domain analysis, the IMF in the pulse frequency
range was reconstructed, achieving the PPG signal without the low-frequency and high-frequency noise
baseline drift. The results calculated by using the Bland-Altman method achieved above 0.95 consistency
with the PPG data synchronously measured by using the existing medical equipment. This widely
applied method was of great importance for obtaining the physiological information based on PPG in
telemedicine.
