Abstract:With the progress of orthodontic learning, the effect of alveolar bone reconstruction in the
process of Orthodontic treatment gets more and more attention, especially for patients with skeletal
ClassⅢmalocclusion. How to make timely and accurate assessment of alveolar bone reconstruction effect
is crucial for correction. The emergence of the cone beam CT (CBCT) ushered in a new era of oral threedimensional
imaging. This paper focused on the advantages and disadvantages of application of CBCT
in correction and treatment of skeletal ClassⅢmalocclusion. It also summarized the application of CBCT
in skeletal Class III malocclusion scheme design, related researches on monitor and effect evaluation of
alveolar bone mass in the process of correction, and made prospects of the future development of CBCT
in this field.
