Abstract:With the flourishing of surgical techniques and improvement of social living standard in
recent years, corneal refractive surgery has become a major approach for myopia correction. By means
of flap formation and laser ablation, this type of surgery reduces corneal thickness and breaks down its
biomechanical integrity, and hence influences postoperative intraocular pressure and biomechanical
features. It may also cause complications such as secondary keratoconus and keratectasia. Combined
with the corneal biomechanical properties, this article comprehensively reviewed the the principles and
measurement characteristics of ocular response analyzer (ORA) as well as the application of ORA in
corneal refractive surgery.
