Abstract:Objective To verify the clinical value of the contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS)
combined with serum CA125 in the qualitative diagnosis of ovarian masses. Methods The findings of color
Doppler, CEUS, and serum CA125 levels of 52 ovarian masses were retrospectively analyzed. The results
were compared with pathological findings to evaluate its diagnosing effectiveness. Results The sensitivity,
specificity, and accuracy in the diagnosis of benign and malignant ovarian masses were 88.5%, 84.6%,
86.5% with color Doppler, and 96.3%, 96.0%, 96.2% with CEUS combined with serum CA125 respectively.
The Youden index indicated that CEUS combined with serum CA125 had better diagnosing effectiveness
and the difference was statically significant (0.731 vs 0.823, P<0.05). CEUS combined with serum CA125
had good consistency with the pathological examination in the qualitative diagnosis of ovarian masses
(Kappa=0.9228). Conclusion The real-time contrast-enhanced ultrasonography has more advantages over
color Doppler in demonstrating the blood vessel perfusion within ovarian tumors. When combined with
detection of serum CA125, it can be used to improve the accuracy of early diagnosis of ovarian masses.
