Abstract:This paper took the practice of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University
in reformation of the outpatient infusion queuing procedure as a successful example. As a consequence,
the patients’ self-service queuing and acquisition of prescriptions, pharmacists’ review, arrangement and
preparation of the prescriptive drugs as well as communication to the patient via the hospital auto-calling
system at the injection site could be realized with the aid of the computer system. Additionally, the issues
of lengthy queuing time, disorder in the queues and delay of urgent prescriptions could be resolved. The
increased efficiency would not only save time for both staff and patients, but also contributed to better
infusion quality.
