Abstract:In order to obtain a high acceleration field in medical electron linear accelerator, the modulator is required to generate high
pulse voltage or current waveform to drive the microwave power source in the pulse working state. This paper analyzes the unique
structure, working principle and important signal forming principle of the modulator for Varian VitalBeam linear accelerator in detail.
By analyzing the waveform of the signal and the testing of important parameters, the dose interlock case of abnormal beam output
is solved.This paper pointed out that it is different from the dose interlock representation of traditional accelerators. The ideas and
methods for solving the related faults of the modulator were described, which provides a reference for the peers.
