Abstract:Objective To realize the automatic import of radiotherapy digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM)
data and improve the work efficiency of radiotherapy process. Methods The automatic DICOM import software AutoImport was
developed based on Eclipse scripting application programming interface, and 14 physicists verified the usability and efficiency of
the software. Results Compared with the manual data import method, AutoImport was efficient and accurate, and can avoid the
occurrence of import errors. The usability and efficiency of AutoImport scored by 14 clinical physicists were 9.38 and 9.62 scores
respectively, and all the physicists gave an excellent evaluation of the software. Conclusion AutoImport has good compatibility and
stability, which can realize the automatic import of DICOM data of patients in Eclipse treatment planning system. Compared with the
manual data import method, the developed AutoImport method improves the efficiency and safety of data import, and saves labor and
time costs. It is recommended to be widely used in clinic.
