Analysis of Research Status of Nanosecond Pulse for Tumor Treatment Based on WOS

Abstract:Objective To understand the research status of nanosecond pulse technology for tumor treatment and analyze the research
trend in different countries. Methods Scientific papers regarding nanosecond pulse technology for tumor treatment were searched in
Web of Science. Bibliometric analysis was conducted to analyze the research status in this field from the perspective of the number
of papers, keyword co-occurrence, published countries and institutions, and international cooperation of papers. Results A total of
530 articles were published in the field of nanosecond pulse technology for tumor treatment with an annual compound growth rate of
7.2% from 2004 to 2022. The United States ranked first in the world in the number of articles published (229 papers),
total citations (9280 times) and average citations per paper (40.52 time/paper). Although China ranked second on the number of
articles (112 paper) and total citations (1151 times), the average citations per paper (13.39 time/paper) ranked 7th globally. A total of
21 institutions published more than 20 articles, including 9 in the United States and 4 in China. Conclusion The field of nanosecond
pulse for tumor treatment has increased significantly in the past 20 years. Many studies have been conducted on the mechanism of
this technique to tumor cells. The United States has the largest and strongest research scale in this field, while China has relatively
less influence in this field. Therefore, China should further improve the quality of published articles, increase international
cooperation and strengthen study of clinical practices.
