Abstract:Objective To evaluate the image quality of CT triple-phase liver enhancement examination by gemstone spectrum CT
combined with low-dose scan. Methods A total of 140 patients undergoing triple-phase liver enhancement examination in our
hospital were enrolled from January 2019 to January 2021. Patients were randomly devided into four groups: group A1 (low energy,
low dose, 60 keV, 300 mg/kg), group A2 (low energy, high dose, 60 keV, 450 mg/kg), group B1 (high energy, low dose, 70 keV,
300 mg/kg) and group B2 (high energy, high dose, 70 keV, 450 mg/kg), with 35 patients in each group. The subjective scores and
objective scores [(signal to noise ratio (SNR)] of image quality among the four groups were compared. The effective radiation doses
[dose length product (DLP), effective dose (ED)] in four groups were calculated. Results There was no significant difference in
the subjective scores of image quality among the four groups during arterial phase, portal vein phase and delay phase (P>0.05),
while there were significant differences in image SNR of ROI (abdominal aorta celiac trunk, celiac artery trunk, portal vein trunk of
superior mesenteric artery) and liver space-occupying lesions during arterial phase and portal vein phase (P<0.05). The objective
scores of images in group A2 were significantly higher than those in the other groups (P<0.05). The differences in DLP and ED among
the four groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). DLP and ED in group A1 were significantly lower than those in the other
groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Gemstone spectrum CT combined with low dose scanning during 60 keV single energy reconstruction
shows the best image quality and high safety in the triple-phase liver enhanced examination.
