Application and Discussion of Reducing the Failure Rate of
Dialysis Machine Based on PDCA Cycle Method

Abstract:Objective To improve the maintenance and management of dialyzer by using PDCA cycle method, so as to reduce
the failure rate of dialyzer continuously, and improve the safe operation quality of dialyzer. Methods According to the annual
maintenance records of dialysis machine, the fishbone diagram and Plato were drawn from different angles, and the corresponding
solutions were put forward according to the “eighty-tenty rule” for the high number of failure points. The repair rate and the
number of failure points were compared before and after improvement, and the effect was analyzed and evaluated. Results After
one improvement in 2020, the number of failure points decreased by 24.8% compared with that in 2019. Regular maintenance and
parameter modification were carried out for the equipment, and the main reason for the failure points decreased significantly. The first
round of improvement achieved obvious results. After two rounds of improvement, the number of failure points decreased by 18.1%
compared with 2020, and the main factors were effectively controlled. Conclusion By using PDCA cycle method for two years to
continuously improve the maintenance method and management level of dialysis machine, it can effectively reduce the failure rate of
dialysis machine, improve the quality of safe operation of dialysis machine and fine management level, and reduce the incidence of
complications of dialysis patients caused by equipment failure. By discussing the experience and effect of improving the management
level of dialysis machine, it hopes to provide the reference for the work of factory engineers, equipment users and clinical engineers.
