Objective To design and develop an information system to implement the whole process management of drug consumption
in the work of patrolling and medical assistance. Methods The supervision needs of drugs in the process of outside-hospital use were
analyzed, and the functions of each link before, during and after the use were designed, and PowerBuilder programming tool and
Adaptive Server Anywhere database were used to develop the system. Results The whole process medication management system
of medical patrol and medical assistance could be connected with the hospital information system before and after the event, which
had the functions of drug requisition, prescription consumption, use registration, statistical analysis, drug return and warehousing,
traceability and follow-up, forming a closed-loop management mode of drug consumption and use. Compared with the manual
management mode, the scores of system ease of use, work convenience, efficiency improvement, data accuracy and traceability
accuracy were improved, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of the whole process
medication management system of medical patrol and medical assistance fills the gap of consumption supervision and use traceability
outside the hospital, which can realize the whole process management of the use of drug outside the hospital, and improves the work
efficiency and drug management level.
