Abstract:Objective To discuss the effectiveness of application of contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) in diagnosis of carotid artery diseases (CAD). Methods Altogether 106 CAD patients who had been treated in the hospital from January 2013 to June 2014 were selected as the research object. All the patients had been scanned by both CE-MRA and DSA so as to compare the detection rate between two methods. Results Altogether 118 stenosis segments were revealed by DSA in 106 patients with artery stenosis. While, CE-MRA detected 101 cases of arterial stenosis with 112 stenosis segments. No statistically significant differences existed between two diagnostic results (P>0.05). DSA displayed 46 slight stenosis segments (<50%), 52 moderate and severe stenosis segments (50%~95%), and 20 complete occlusion segments (≥95%) in comparison with 44 slight stenosis segments, 49 moderate and severe stenosis segments, and 19 complete occlusion segments detected by CE-MRA. No statistically significant differences were seen between two diagnostic results (P>0.05). Conclusion CE-MRA had proven its effectiveness in high detection rate in diagnosis of CAD and low iatrogenic traumas, which could be taken as the first choice for diagnosis of CAD.
