Abstract:Objective To investigate the main imaging findings of breast cancer in cone beam breast CT (CBBCT) and explore the
clinical significance of this new imaging technique for diagnosis. Methods The imaging data of 30 patients with breast cancer
who examined with CBBCT in the first medical center of Chinese PLA general hospital from June 2020 to March 2021 were
retrospectively analyzed. The imaging features of lesions were analyzed, including the calcification, morphology, margin, internal
enhancement, and distribution characteristics of mass and non-mass. The breast imaging reporting and data system (BI-RADS)
classification was statistically analyzed. Results Mass lesions were found in 26 cases (86.7%), non-mass lesions in 4cases (13.3%).
Among the masses, amorphous calcification was found in 8 cases (30.7%), irregular morphology in 14 cases (53.8%), marginal burr
in 9 cases (34.6%), circular enhancement scanning in 6 cases (23.1%), mixed reinforcement in 19 cases (73.1%), and homogeneous
enhancement in 1 case (3.8%). The results of BI-RADS classification showed that 27 cases were classified into 5 categories, 2 cases were
classified into 4 categories, and 1 case was classified into 3 categories. The missed diagnosis rate was 3.33%. Conclusion The manifestations
of breast cancer on CBBCT are varied, including tumor and non-tumor manifestations, among which malignant calcification, burr
edge and ring enhancement are helpful for diagnosis. The CBBCT has high diagnostic accuracy for breast cancer and can be used as
an important means for breast cancer screening.
