Abstract:Objective To reconstruct human lumbar vertebral bone model in three-dimensional, and to help clinicians observe lesions more
clearly through printing the bone. Methods Using spiral CT scanned images as raw data, the three-dimensional model of human lumbar spine
was built by MIMICS software. After surface processing and surface optimization, the human skeleton was manufactured in the rapid
prototyping machine (3D printer). The finite element model was analyzed and the mechanical deformation of the model skeleton was
observed. Results The three-dimensional model reconstructed by MIMICS was able to display the lumbar vertebral state in morphology
and mechanics. Conclusion Compared with the traditional CT tomography, this method can restore the true skeletal state highly. The solid
model obtained can be used in medical teaching, and also lay a foundation for the development of bone materials, which has
important practical value.
