Design and Application of Luminous Flux Measuring Device for Medical Cold Light Source

Abstract:Objective To achieve the accurate measurement of the luminous flux of the cold light source and the guide beam of the
endoscope system, and to obtain the minimum luminous flux to ensure the safety of surgery, this paper designs a measuring device for
the luminous flux of the cold light source of the medical endoscope system. Methods The device was composed of cold light source,
guided beam, bulb measurement interface adapter, guided beam measurement interface adapter, luminous flux measuring instrument
and probe. Notably, the bulb and guided beam measurement interface adapter could well adapt to the measuring probe. Results The
device could measure the luminous flux of cold light source and guided beam precisely. In addition, it could quantitatively assess
the service life of bulb and the loss of guided beam. In order to ensure the safety of surgery, it was determined that the minimum
luminous flux value of cold light source and guide beam was 700 lm and 300 lm, respectively. Furthermore, the minimum light
transmission rate of guide beam was 30%. Conclusion The structure design of the measuring device is reasonable and easy to
operate. It can make the judgment of the cold light source brightness and guide beam of the endoscope system from the traditional
visual qualitative judgment to digital quantitative judgment. Therefore, it can well guide the daily inspection and maintenance work.
