Abstract:Objective The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and rules of medical linear accelerator and its
routine maintenance and repair methods. Methods In this study, a medical linear accelerator used in the radiotherapy department of
our hospital was taken as an example to conduct a comprehensive statistical analysis on the faults that occurred in the past five years
from 2012 to 2017, and the causes of the failures and the characteristics of the faults and rules were analyzed. Then the corresponding
routine maintenance and fault repair methods were put forward. Results The failures of this hospital medical linear accelerator in
2012 to 2017 included: multi-leaf collimator (MLC) failure, beam system failure, operation and control system failure, vacuum
inflation system and constant temperature water circulation system failure, mechanical failure. Among them, the failure rate of MLC
was the highest (30.93%), and the mechanical failure was the lowest (3.09%). Conclusion There are many kinds of medical linear
accelerator failures, and the causes of these failures are complicated. We should pay attention to the maintenance and maintenance of
equipment and prevent the occurrence of faults in a targeted manner in routine work.
