Abstract:Objective To explore the standard dose normalization method by comparing the intensity modulated radiation plan
after dose normalization, the dose verification pass rate of with and without multi-ieaf collimator (MLC) motion are calculated.
Methods The 15 cases of lung cancer intensity modulation plan were selected for classification design. According to the standard
of the prescription dose reaching 95% volume, the intensity modulation plan of each case was increased from 2.1% to 16% to the
standard prescription for dose normalization. The plan that was not calculated and expanded calculation of the MLC motion were
dose-verified on the EPID, respectively, and the verification results were compared and analyzed. Results The 1%/1 mm γ pass
rate standard was used. The average verification rate of the two different IMRT plans was (73.92±3.16)% and (75.61±3.04)%,
respectively, (P=0.045<0.05). The 2%/2 mm γ pass rate standard was used. The average passing rate verifications of the two different
IMRT plans were 94.63±4.17 and 95.40±3.75, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.045<0.05). Conclusion After the
dose nomalization of intensity modulated radiation plan, the verification result of the calculated MLC motion is better than the result
of direct treatment plan. Therefore, after the the dose nomalization of intensity modulated radiation plan, the MLC motion should be
calculated and then executed.
