Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility of non-invasive gastrointestinal anastomosis by using magnamosis technique through natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery. Methods SD rats were used as animal models to design and process anastomotic magnets that could be inserted through the oral and anus. After anesthesia, the daughter magnet was implanted into the stomach through the mouth and the parent magnet was implanted into the splenic flexure of colon through the anus, then the daughter and parent magnets were automatically attached to each other. The state and position of magnet suction were confirmed by abdominal X-ray, and the discharge time of magnet were recorded. The anastomotic specimens were obtained after 1 month, and the formation of anastomotic was observed visually. Results The non-invasive gastrointestinal magnamosis was successfully carried out in eight SD rats through the oral and anal pathway. The process of magnet placement was smooth during the operation, and the X-ray monitoring showed that the magnets was automatically aligned and attached. The magnets were excreted through the anus 12-17 days after operation. One month after operation, the animals were killed and the gastrointestinal anastomotic specimens were obtained. Macroscopic observation showed that the gastrointestinal anastomotic patency was good, and the burst pressure of anastomotic was 114 ±10.25 mmHg. Conclusion Non-invasive gastrointestinal anastomosis can be achieved by using magnamosis technique through natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery.
