Abstract:Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of ADC histogram obtained from MR DWI for stage IB and II
cervical cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was made of 42 cases of cervical cancer confirmed by operation and pathology
but not treated. According to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics staging method, these cases were
divided into two groups, 21 cases in stage IB and 21 cases in stage II. Routine pelvic MR sequences, DWI and dynamic contrast-enhanced
scan were performed in both groups before operation. ADC values were generated by post-processing software, and the
maximum levels of ADC images of two groups of masses were selected. The region of interest was delineated by Mazda
software and analyzed by histogram. Statistical analysis of the histogram parameters of the two groups was carried out to find
out the parameters with significant differences between the two groups. Results The histograms of ADC values in the two
groups were mainly skewed distribution. Nine parameters (mean, variance, skewness, kurtosis, ADC1%, ADC10%, ADCmean, ADC90%, ADC99%) were extracted by histogram, of which the kurtosis was the most significant (P<0.05). The area
under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.753, and the best cut-off point was 51.5. The sensitivity and specificity
of diagnosis were 80.1% and 71.4% respectively. Conclusion ADC histogram is of great value in evaluating stage IB and stage II of
cervical cancer.
