Abstract:Objective To apply the theory of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) to improve the maintenance of infant incubator. Methods Firstly, the core components of the infant incubator were chosen, then the failure modes and affects were analyzed. The maintenance methods were determined on the basis of failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and logical decision. Results The failure rate, outage rate and maintenance costs of infant incubator are significantly reduced. Conclusion The reliability of infant incubator was improved and the maintenance costs were reduced through the use of RCM theory.
