Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of cardiac MRI technology in diagnosis of pediatric
cardiac tumors. Methods Clinical data of 38 pediatric patients confirmed by surgical pathology with
cardiac tumor were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients underwent preoperative cardiac MRI
(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examinations. MRI was performed with 2D cine steady state free precession
(SSFP), EPI spin echo T1WI, T2-weighted turbo spin echo imaging and 3D SSFP. Results Among 38 cases
of pediatric patients, MRI examination results revealed 15 cases of rhabdomyoma with the similarity on signal
intensity as myocardium, 10 cases of fibroma with high intensity on MDE sequence, 5 lipoma, 3 hemangioma,
3 myxoma, 1 malignant lymphoma and 1 pericardial fibrosarcoma. Conclusion Cardiac MRI played
an important role in diagnosis of cardiac tumor in children, especially for fibroma, hemangioma and
rhabdomyoma.
