Abstract:This paper summarized and analyzed the GFIL interlock faults that had occurred in our hospital’s Varian Clinac 21EX
linear accelerator over the past 9 years. The occurrence of GFIL interlock faults was mainly caused by faults of the power supply
board on the cold end, the small power supply board on the hot end, the hot deck filament power supply board on the hot end, the
backplane board of the hot end, and patch panel board in the rack. After a fault occurs, the console displayed a red GFIL interlocking
alarm, which will continuously flash or remain on. The fault cause and handling method were further analyzed based on the detailed
hardware status. The five types of faults described in this paper basically cover most of the hardware related to GFIL interlocking,
and provided fast and effective fault solutions based on hardware principles, in order to provide reference for linear accelerator
maintenance engineers.
