Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of whole process management based on product lifecycle management
(PLM) evaluation in the cost control of high-value equipment in hospitals. Methods The PLM data was collected from the hospital
information system and maintenance management platform. The cost benefit of high-value equipment under the condition of
considering maintenance costs was calculated, and the whole process cost including purchase and use was controlled on the basis
of them. The routine management of high-value equipment in the hospital from January to December 2021 was listed as the control
group, while list the situation of the whole process management based on PLM evaluation from January to December 2022 as the
observation group. The cost of high-value equipment, management quality scores and adverse event rates were compared between
the two groups. Results The depreciation expenses of high-value equipment in the observation group was not significantly different
from that in the control group (P>0.05). The maintenance work/maintenance/repair costs and total costs were lower than those of
the control group [(27.45±5.06) ten thousand yuan vs. (45.24±8.19) ten thousand yuan, (132.87±20.09) ten thousand yuan vs.
(150.66±22.59) ten thousand yuan] (P<0.05). The scores of effectiveness, feasibility and practicability of the management model
were higher than those of the control group [(9.67±0.38) scores vs. (8.33±0.57) scores, (9.67±0.37) scores vs. (8.33±0.54) scores,
(9.33±0.41) scores vs. (8.33±0.36) scores] (P<0.05). The incidences of equipment failure and maintenance were also lower than
those of the control group (0.95% vs. 1.25%, 0.90% vs. 1.11%) (P<0.05). Conclusion The whole process management based on PLM
evaluation can improve the cost control effect and management quality of high-value equipment in hospital, and reduce adverse events.
