Abstract:Objective To study the value of 18F-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission computed tomography (18F-FDG
PET/CT) and high-resolution CT (HRCT) technology in the evaluation of pulmonary ground glass nodules (GGN).
Methods A total of 100 patients with suspected pulmonary GGN who were treated in our hospital from January 2018 to
December 2020 were selected, and all patients underwent breath-holding HRCT scanning immediately after routine PET/
CT scan. Results There was no statistically significant difference between 18F-FDG PET/CT and HRCT in the detection of
minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) and invasive adeno carcinoma (IAC) in patients with pulmonary GGN (P>0.05).
There was no statistically significant difference between 18F-FDG PET/CT and HRCT in the detection of lesion type, lesion
boundary, lesion edge, and vacuolar symptoms in patients with pulmonary GGN (P>0.05). 18F-FDG PET/CT showed a higher
detection rates of bronchial characteristics and vessel convergence sign in patients with pulmonary GGN than HRCT (P<0.05).
For 18F-FDG PET/CT, the maximum diameter, maximum density, and standardized uptake value maximum of MIA and
IAC cross sections comparison varied between patients with pulmonary GGN (P<0.05). Of the 100 patients with suspected
pulmonary GGN, 87 were diagnosed, the sensitivity and accuracy of 18F-FDG PET/CT were higher than that of HRCT, and
the specificity was lower than that of HRCT (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with HRCT technology, 18F-FDG PET/CT
has advantages in the detection of bronchial and lobulation sign in patients with pulmonary GGN, which can effectively
distinguish the malignant degree of pulmonary GGN and has high diagnostic value.
