Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical value of GE gemstone energy spectrum CT imaging in the differentiation of benign
and malignant lung tumors. Methods Patients who were initially diagnosed of lung mass and needed to be further examined with
enhanced CT scan to definitively diagnosed were selected to undergo gemstone energy spectrum contrast enhanced CT scan. The
energy spectrum curve was drawn and the slope K was measured, following by analysis of normalized iodine concentration (NIC) in
the arterial and venous phases. According to pathological results, the patients were divided into malignant group and benign group
for comparative analysis. Results The arterial NIC of malignant group and benign group were (0.081±0.016) and (0.073±0.011),
respectively. The venous NIC of malignant group and benign group were (0.282±0.030) and (0.226±0.030), respectively. The slope
K of malignant group and benign group were (1.339±0.491) and (1.063±0.235), respectively, and the energy spectrum parameters
of the three groups were statistically different (P<0.05). Conclusion Quantitative analysis using gemstone energy spectrum CT
imaging has great clinical value in differentiating benign and malignant lung tumors.
