Abstract:Objective To study the feasibility of the region growing method in measuring the amniotic fluid in fetal MRI. Methods Altogether 26 foetuses were selected and scanned by MRI. Then, the amniotic fluid in fetal MRI was measured respectively through the region growing method and the traditional method so as to measure the error value and calculate the linear regression equation. Results The measurement error was 10% to 15% under the conditions of oligohydramnios; while the error was in excess of 1.2% to 8% under the conditions of normality and polyhydramnios. The linear regression equation was calculated as Y=0.975X-9.748. After rectification of the amniotic fluid value through the linear regression equation, the average error was reduced to only 2.32%. Conclusion The region growing was an easy-to-operate method for precise measurement of the amniotic fluid after foetuses were scanned by MRI, which should be used as an effective clinical method to measure the fetal amniotic fluid.
