Abstract:Objective To study effectiveness of application of the gastric window CEUS (Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound) and conventional ultrasonography in preoperative T-staging of gastric carcinomas. Methods Gastric window CEUS images and conventional ultrasonographies of 70 gastric carcinoma patients who were treated from January to December 2013 in the hospital were retrospectively analyzed and compared with the postoperative pathological results. Results The detection rate of gastric window CEUS was 100% (70/70) versus conventional ultrasonography’s 58.6% (41/70), which was of statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The accurate rate of gastric window CEUS in stage T1, T2, T3, T4 gastric carcinomas was 88.9%, 85.7%, 83.3%, 90.2% respectively in contrast with the conventional ultrasonography’s 0, 0, 66.7%, 75.6%. Statistical significance existed between the accuracy rate of two examination methods (P<0.05) in diagnosis of stage T1, T2, T3, T4 gastric carcinomas. Conclusion Gastric window CEUS demonstrated its advantages over the conventional ultrasonography in detection of gastric lesions and preoperative T-staging of gastric carcinomas.
