Abstract:Objective To evaluate the feasibility of non-enhanced renal artery MR angiography (MRA) with respiratory gated time spatial labeling inversion pulse (Time-SLIP) technology in diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its clinical application. Methods 17 healthy volunteers (control group) and 31 CKD patients (CKD group) underwent MRI examination (TOSHIBA EXCELART Vantage 1.5T) with Time-SLIP technology. Two experienced radiologists graded the image quality according to a five-level scale. Results 34 renal arteries and 2 accessory renal arteries were imaged in control group, while 62 renal arteries and 3 accessory renal arteries were imaged in CKD group. Both radiologists pointed out that the number of images whose scores were equal to or above 3 score in control group is 36, accounting for 100%; while the number of images whose scores were equal to or above 3 score in CKD group is 63, accounting for 96.9%. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P﹥0.05). As to the demonstration of branches, both considered that the scores of control group were higher than that of CKD group, and there were significant differences between the two groups (P﹤0.05). Conclusion Time-SLIP technology can be used in renal artery MRA and is a good method to diagnose CKD.
