Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effects of two kinds of sterilization methods of endoscopic equipment. Methods 384 endoscopic devices used from October 2011 to October 2013 in the hospital were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The sterilization of 192 endoscopic devices in control group was conducted by using immersion sterilization with 2% alkaline glutaraldehyde while the sterilization of 192 endoscopic devices in observation group was conducted by using low-temperature sterilization with hydrogen peroxide gas plasma. Then the qualified situation of bacterial culture, the sterilization effectiveness, damage situation of endoscopic devices and adverse reactions of operators of observation group were compared with those of control group. Results The qualified rate of bacterial culture of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05). The sterilization time of observation group was significantly shorter than that of control group (P<0.05). The effective time of sterilization of observation group was significantly longer than that of control group (P<0.05). The damage rate of endoscopic devices and adverse reaction incidence rate of operators of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Both of immersion sterilization with 2% alkaline glutaraldehyde and low-temperature sterilization with hydrogen peroxide gas plasma are effective sterilization methods for endoscopic equipment while the later with better sterilization effect should be promoted in clinic.
