Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of ultrasonic artificial intelligence (AI) combined with thyroid stimulating
hormone (TSH) detection in the diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodule. Methods A total of 163 patients with thyroid nodule
in our hospital from January to December 2021 were selected as research subjects, and excluding critical thyroid nodules (1 case),
they were divided into the benign group (45 cases) and the malignant group (117 cases) based on pathological examination results.
Both groups were underwent ultrasonic AI combined with TSH detection. The clinical data features, ultrasound image features and
TSH level were compared between the two groups, and the diagnostic efficiency of ultrasonic AI, TSH and their combined detection
on benign and malignant thyroid nodules was analyzed according to receiver operating characteristic curve. Results The occurrence
of regular shape, clear boundary, complete halo, regular halo, equal, high and mixed echo, blood flow level 0, aspect ratio ≥1, cystic/
spongy, cystic and solid mixing in the benign group were significantly more than those in the malignant group (P<0.05), and the
occurrence of low echo, calcification, blood flow level 1-2, aspect ratio <1, solid in the benign group were significantly less than
those in the malignant group (P<0.05). The TSH level in the benign group was significantly lower than that in the malignant group
(P<0.05). The positive detection rates of benign and malignant thyroid nodules detected by ultrasonic AI, TSH and their combination
were 77.54%, 93.10%, and 94.92%, respectively. The negative detection rates were 58.33%, 80.43%, and 88.64%, respectively. The
area under curve (AUC) were 0.777, 0.951 and 0.973, respectively, and the positive detection rate, negative detection rate, AUC of the
combined detection were higher than those in the two methods alone. Conclusion Ultrasonic AI, TSH and their combined detection
can be used in the diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules, and the combined detection has higher application value.
