Abstract:Objective To explore the value of AI automatic positioning technology in chest CT examination of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Methods A total of 174 patients with COVID-19 con?rmed by Shanghai public health clinical center were enrolled in this study. Among them, 87 patients were examined with AI automatic positioning CT (uCT528) and 87 patients were examined with conventional CT (Hitachi SCENARIA CT), and both of the two devices were scanned with low dose planning CT. χ2 test was used to evaluate the accuracy field of view (FOV) the central location and Z-axis scanning range of the two CT images. Fisher exact probability method was used to compare the radiation dose of patients, and two senior radiologists were used to double-blind score the AI positioning CT scanning images, and kappa test was used to evaluate the consistency of image quality. Results The accuracy rate of FOV center location and Z-axis scanning range of AI automatic positioning CT was 100%, which was higher than 87% and 88.5% of conventional CT, and the difference was statistically signi?cant (P<0.01). The average effective radiation dose was (1.83±0.33) mSv, which was significantly lower than that of conventional CT (2.35±0.43) mSv, (P<0.01). The excellent and good rate of AI localization and conventional CT image quality were 100%, and the consistent rate of image quality evaluation of two doctors were 97.7% and 96.6%, respectively (kappa = 0.84, 0.71). Conclusion AI automatic positioning technology does not require radiographers to directly contact the patient, which helps reduce the risk of infection among medical staff. At the same time, on the basis of ensuring the image quality, the FOV center positioning and Z-axis scanning range are accurate, and the patient’s X-ray radiation dose is lower.
