Abstract:Objective To study the nickel ion precipitation behavior of Nickel-Chromium (Ni-Cr) alloy ceramic crowns and Ni-Cr alloy
metal crowns with different Cr content in artificial saliva. Methods Ni-Cr alloy ceramic crowns and Ni-Cr alloy metal crowns with
different Cr content were immersed in the artificial saliva under pH6.8 at a constant temperature (37±1)℃. The samples were taken
out every other week, and the concentration of nickel ion was tested by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Results The nickel ion
precipitation rate of Ni-Cr alloy metal crowns with high Cr content increased gradually with time, and reached a peak at the second week,
then decreased gradually. While the precipitation rate of nickel ions kept increasing slowly during the test period (7 weeks) in the low Cr
content group. Compared with Ni-Cr alloy metal crowns, the amount of nickel ion released from Ni-Cr alloy ceramic crowns decreased
significantly. Conclusion The high Cr metal crown has corrosion resistance, while the Ni-Cr ceramic crown has better biological safety.
